Honey, I Made a Lip Balm! Celebrate the power of pollinators by creating your own natural honey lip balm. Participants will explore how beeswax and honey travel from the hive into everyday products while learning how ingredient properties, measurement, and formulation work together to create a smooth, moisturizing balm. Each participant will mix their ingredients, pour their lip balm, and create a product name and label to take home. This hands-on activity blends pollinator science, natural product making, creativity, and entrepreneurship into one sweet Bee Fest experience.

From the Lab to Label: Brew Your Own Brand! Step into the role of a scientist and entrepreneur as you transform coffee and other simple ingredients into a natural body scrub. Participants will explore the science behind exfoliation and product formulation, measure and mix their own coffee body scrub, then create a product name and label that reflects their brand. This hands-on experience combines chemistry, self-care, creativity, and entrepreneurship, while introducing the journey from developing a formula in the lab to presenting a finished product to customers.

From the Lab to Label: Golden Glow! Make a Natural Sugar Scrub. Discover how everyday ingredients can come together to create a golden, skin-smoothing treat. Participants will blend sugar, nourishing oils, and other natural ingredients while exploring how texture, scent, and ingredient choices shape the final product. They will then package and personalize their scrub with a creative name and label. This interactive experience invites participants to experiment, express their creativity, and imagine how a simple self-care product can become a unique brand.

Future Founders: The Ultimate Youth Pitch Challenge for a Prize! Step up and share an idea that could make a difference. Participants can pitch a business concept, community solution, creative project, personal brand, or invention in a fun and supportive challenge. Youth will practice introducing their idea, explaining who it helps, and sharing what makes it unique. All they need is imagination, confidence, and a willingness to speak up. Participants will build communication and entrepreneurial skills while competing for a prize.

Downtown Detroit Partnership (DDP)

Innovation Station: Prototyping with Purpose! Make a Fidget Tool. Participants will become designers, inventors, and problem solvers through a hands-on make-and-take experience. Using reusable materials and simple crafting components, youth and families will prototype their own fidget tool while exploring the principles of STEEAM, design thinking, and user-centered innovation. The activity encourages participants to consider how different textures, shapes, and movements can meet real sensory and focus needs, making the experience both creative and meaningful.

Educators Night

Educators Night is a free annual event that brings together hundreds of PreK–12 educators, administrators, and school professionals from across Metro Detroit for an evening of learning, connection, and resource-sharing. Hosted across several of the district’s museums and cultural institutions, the event helps educators discover field trip opportunities, classroom resources, youth programs, curriculum supports, professional learning opportunities, and Community partnerships that can benefit their students and schools. Participation is free for selected nonprofit partners. Hosting institutions will provide tables and chairs; participating organizations should bring their own materials, handouts, displays, and staff needed to engage with educators throughout the evening.
